Automatically create variations by default

There is some way to have this option as default turned on?
Sometimes I open an SGF file, start puting stones and I forgot by default add stones to the main variant and breaks the SGF (don't totally understand this behaviour)

What I would like is by default to create variations when I place a stone

Sorry, right now it does not remember its last state.

I try to implement persistent state as I have time.
